Dancing With the Stars 2012
Dancing with the Stars 2012 is scheduled to start in March. This reality show is aired on ABC in the US and is now a national feature that is watched not just by millions of viewers in America, but other places in the world.
Let’s take a brief look on the competition to date.
Similar to the American Idol contest, this show invites viewers to vote for their favorite contestants. The dancers are paired as couples to perform predetermined dances in the completion to get audience votes and judges points. The final score for the contestants is decided by the votes from the viewers and the contest judges. Every week someone is eliminated as the contestants who performed poorly and receive the lowest scores are sent home. This elimination process will continue until one pair of champion dancers remain.
The contestants are usually drawn from a fraternity of stars. The stars in the competition are public icons such as movie stars, public figures, Olympic and professional athletes, singers, supermodels and media or TV personalities. Generally, the contestant pairs will consist of a professional dancer and a celebrity.
The last series for Dancing with stars ended on the 22nd of November, 2011 and this was the thirteenth season. It is now renewed for the fourteenth season and this would be the Dancing with the stars 2012 series.
The Hosts and Judges
Tom Bergeron has been hosting the show from it started in 2005 and Lisa Canning was his co-host for the first season. Samantha Harris was the co-host from 2006 to 2009 for second season to the ninth season. Brooke Burke has been the co-host from season ten to present.
There are three main judges for the show since the start and they are Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba. However, there have other guest judges which appeared on the show including former contestants and various other celebrities who are affiliated with the dancing world.
Dancing with the Stars 2012
The line-up for the 2012 series was announced recently and Nancy Grace and Tristan MacManus will be dancing up a storm. Tristan is an Irish Dancer and Nancy is a popular TV personality. David Arquette, Ron Artest and Ricky Lake are also in the line-up. There are 12 big name celebrities in total to complete the line up in this dancing competition.
As always, viewers can submit celebrities’ names to Dancing with the Stars website so that their favorite starts can appear in future shows. The celebrities are always paired with professional partners in each season who will instruct them to do various dances weekly and compete along with them in the televised show.
